Website for more Information: www.dietandhealthcenter.info
Event Description:
MORE DANGERS OF FRUCTOSE
Fructose is one of the main sugars causing obesity, insulin resistance, high triglycerides, high cholesterol, along with high blood pressure and weight gain.
High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is nearly ubiquitous in nationally advertised food, including sodas, tomato sauce, mayo, bread, cookies, yogurt, jelly, and more.
Corn syrup is just ONE source of fructose – although it is the most concentrated and dangerous. Fructose also comes from fruit, juice, and other foods such as agave nectar.
While we are all working on reducing carbohydrates (I hope), many of us have become fruit junkies instead of cookie junkies. While this is an improvement, it still can make your blood sugar unstable, cause energy swings, and cause obesity, insulin resistance and triglycerides.
Change to the Paleo Diet, and stop starches. Drop fruit for a while too until stable.

BREAKFAST, SNACKS, AND SMOOTHIES CLASS SUNDAY, May 20th RSVP

12:30 to 3:30. Cost: $50.
All are welcome, but PLEASE register in advance so we can make plans.
If you think a proper Smoothie is blended up juice,
fruit and almond milk, you NEED to come to this class.
Learn how to get sufficient protein and fat in there! And how to plan breakfast so it’s ready to go in the morning. Snacks can be mood and marriage-savers, if they contain the protein, fat and gentle carbs you require to fuel you without spiking your blood sugar. Breakfast must be a solid, well-constructed meal or your whole day will be a blood sugar cycle! Every meal and snack should have enough protein, fat, and non-starchy carbs to last 4 to 5 hours without sugar cravings, a drop in energy, or a crash in brain function.
I personally eat every four hours, and I stick to my schedule. I eat a lot of “car picnics” and take meals with me whenever I go out. I find a nice place to park, lock the doors, put on some Mozart, spread out a nice napkin, and eat on time. Keeping your blood sugar stable is the first big key to recovery of health, and to feeling well every day.

From HeartMath Institute: Anchor Your Insights in Four Steps for Sustained Positive Change

Anchor Your Insights
“Take the power of your heart intent and have courage to put your insights into action.”
– Doc Childre
Many of us have already had good insights about what we need to do to change repeating patterns that result in stress, damaged relationships or other unwanted outcomes.

We feel the need for change and we’re motivated, but when that challenging situation arises, we go through the same mechanical responses. Or we may try acting on an insight for a bit and then slip back. Whether the problem is in our standard reactions to others or in our personal health and work habits, things keep going the way they have been, but you can change them through Anchoring™.

You actually can “anchor” a good insight you’ve had so you can increase your ability to act on it, rather than allow it to fade away. Here are the four steps for anchoring an insight:

Step 1. Appreciate the insight. Appreciate this new perspective, intelligence or common sense that you now can bring to bear on a situation or issue.
Step 2. Appreciate any positive feelings associated with the insight. Appreciation of these feelings, perhaps hope and peace, gives the insight more significance in your feeling world, making it easier to recall.
Step 3. Write down the insight and revisit it daily, with appreciation. This helps you continue investing it with feeling and keeps hope for inspiration and change alive.
Step 4. Go for it. Go beyond “I know I should” and make the change – because you see the intelligence of it. To add to your power to quickly shift your attitude and course of action, read Attitude Replacements on page 6 of our Spring ‘07 newsletter.

You can increase your momentum for change by looking for opportunities to act on your insight, and asking your heart to prompt you to do so when those situations arise. View these situations as opportunities to solidify your new way of responding.

If you slip back into old habits, appreciate yourself for noticing that you did, because that’s a more efficient use of your energy than feeling bad. Then make genuine attempts to recall and appreciate the original insight and renew your efforts.

Every time you act on your insight, appreciate that you have done so and anchor the reference point.

Research shows that generating positive emotions can help you reinforce your success. The more you act on your insight, the more your intelligence will reveal how to handle a situation more skillfully.

Homotoxicology: Reversing the Influences of Toxic Burden and Chronic Degenerative
Disease Wednesday 5/9/12 RSVP
Sponsored by SA Functional Medicine
Speaker: Ricardo Boye, ND

Time: 6:30 – 9:30pm

Location: Methodist Stone Oak Hospital – Classroom 1

For those practitioners who become familiar with the science of homotoxicology,
new and dramatic shifts in the healing process are revealed. The science itself
deals with the human body’s defense against toxic substances (homotoxins) that
threaten to overwhelm the extracellular and intercellular matric, resulting in disease.
Often over simplified, the principles of homotoxicology are integral to understanding
the processes of reversing chronic illness..

This informative presentation with Ricardo Boye, ND will introduce homotoxicology
and it’s essential role in guiding the healing process.

Highlights include:

1) Understanding the function of the intercellular matrix

2) The 6 phases of toxicity and the Chart of Homotoxicology

3) Retracing the path of disease – from toxicity to health

4) Meeting the challenges of homotoxone coupling

5) Keys to developing therapies that reach the organelles of the cell

Dr. Boye practices as a board certified Naturopath and Nutritionist at the Spa on
Green Street in Gainesville, GA. His concern is to provide practical solutions for
the growing health crisis in the fields of preventive care and chronic illness.
He is a senior instructor for the Energetix International College of BioEnergetic
medicine. His lectures offer a stimulating blend of the latest scientific findings
in BioEnergetic medicine, homotoxicology and practical strategies toadvance the
understanding of the human body’s innate capacity to heal

HeartMath offers Shift and Shine® Technique for Children

During its many years of scientific research into human stress and emotions the Institute of HeartMath has established that the qualities of joy, caring, appreciation and openheartedness, which children so naturally possess, have the power to transform our lives. Like you, we see in our children the hope of the future, and we have studied extensively ideas for nurturing these positive qualities of the heart in young children.

HeartMath’s Shift and Shine® Technique is a powerful tool developed especially for ages 3-6 that has proven effective in giving children an early start on how to manage their emotions and engage in socially accepted behavior, while also strengthening positive feelings such as love, caring and appreciation. Like adults, children, even our youngest, experience stress, and this tool can help lessen it by teaching them skills they can carry throughout their lives.

Parents, grandparents and teachers – pre-school and elementary – will find this technique easy to teach and fun for children and themselves. It takes only a few minutes so you and your children can practice it daily.

Parents: Ask your child: Do you ever have a warm feeling in your heart when you feel love or care for someone? It’s kind of like the warmth from the sun.

Parents, help your children with the following steps:

Heart Attention – Place your attention on the area around your heart or center of the chest. It helps to put your hand over your heart area. Model by putting hand over your heart.

Heart Breathing – Now pretend to breathe in and out of your heart. Take three slow breaths. Model the breathing.
Heart Feeling – Think of someone or something that makes you feel happy, like your mom or dad, or maybe a special place that you visit, like the park. Feel that happy feeling in your heart and then shine that happy feeling to someone or something special – your brother or sister or the whole world. Let the children experience the feeling for a few seconds. The length of time will increase with each exercise.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Roundup Herbicide Linked to Parkinson’s-Related Brain Damage

> Alarming new research published in the journal Neurotoxicology and Teratology supports the emerging connection between glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicide, and neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and Parkinsonian disorders.
>
> Published this month (April, 2012), the new study entitled “Glyphosate induced cell death through apoptotic and authophagic mechanisms,” investigated the potential brain-damaging effects of herbicides, which the authors stated “have been recognized as the main environmental factor associated with neurodegenerative disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease.”1
>
> They found that glyphosate inhibited the viability of differentiated test cells (PC12, adrenal medula derived), in both dose-and-time dependent manners. The researchers also found that “glyphosate induced cell death via authophagy pathways in addition to activating apoptotic pathways.”
>
> Roundup herbicide is now a ubiquitous contaminant in our air, rain, groundwater, and food, making complete avoidance near impossible. A growing body of experimental evidence now indicates that it in addition to its neurotoxicity it also has the following.
> Modes of Toxicity
>
> Carcinogen
> Endocrine Disruptor
> Genotoxic
> Biocide
> Cytotoxic
> Bioaccumulator
> Hepatotoxic
> Teratrogenic
> Clastogenic
> Oxidant
> Aquacidal
> Mutagenic
> Aromatase Disruptor
> Glutathione Down-regulator
> Malondialdehyde Up-regulator
> Necrotic
> Nephrotoxic
>
>
> Once marketed as “safe as table salt” by Monsanto, the original patent holder and manufacturer of this glyphosate-based herbicide, evidence now indicates it is toxic to human DNA at concentrations diluted 450-fold lower than used in agricultural applications.
>
> This study only adds to human case reports of glyphosate-poisoning and/or occupational exposure where neurological damage was a direct consequence. A 2011 case study published in the journal Parkinsonism Related Disorders, entitled “Parkinsonism after chronic occupational exposure to glyphosate,” reported the following incident:
>
> Here we report a patient with parkinsonism following chronic occupational exposure to glyphosate. A previously healthy 44- year-old woman presented with rigidity, slowness and resting tremor in all four limbs with no impairment of short-term memory, after sustaining long term chemical exposure to glyphosate for 3 years as a worker in a chemical factory. The chemical plant produced a range of herbicides including: glyphosate, gibberellins, and dimethyl hydrogen phosphite; however, the patient worked exclusively in the glyphosate production division. She only wore basic protection such as gloves or a face mask for 50 h each week in the plant where glyphosate vapor was generated. She frequently felt weak. Two months before she came to our clinic, she had expe- rienced severe dizziness and blurred vision.
>
>
> Another case study published in 2003 reported a case of parkinsonism subsequent to glyphosate exposure.
>
> These case studies are also backed up by animal research. In the roundworm model of glyphosate exposure the chemical results in neurodegeneration directly associated with damage to the dopamine and GABA producing neurons. In the rat model, glyphosate exposure results in oxidative brain damage, particularly the substantia nigra, where the highest concentration of dopamine-producing cells reside, and which is the primary locus of neurological damage in Parkinson’s disease.
Uterine ligaments are made to stretch to accommodate a growing fetus and to move freely when the bladder and bowel is full. These ligaments and muscles can weaken and loosen causing the uterus to fall downward, forward, backward, or to either side. A uterus in any of these positions is called a prolapsed or tipped uterus and can lead to all kinds of problems. A tipped uterus can often be returned to her happiest position with massage.

WHAT: “Compassionate Conversations” Training
WHERE: First UU Church, IH10 frontage road heading onto Loop 410
WHEN: March 25th from 1-5pm.
For information about registration or content, please contact Phil khesed@gmail.com

“Compassionate Conversations” is based on “Nonviolent Communication: a language of life” by Marshal Rosenberg. Each class includes short presentations, exercises for immediate practice and then group sharing to “harvest” the learning from each exercise. Classes also use creativity music, poetry and play to support learning.

“Nonviolent Communication” is a way to influence ourselves and others by listening empathetically and expressing honestly with compassion. We learn to inspire ourselves by identifying the energy of life moving in our bodies. We learn how to treat ourselves with compassion and connection rather than judgment, punishment or negative pressure. It’s both an art and a science, learning to connect with what is important to us and other people. Come learn things you can do that will bring more ease into your life.

Learn how to:
• respond to “difficult messages” with ease and grace.
• improve the quality of relationship you have with yourself and others.
• increase the chances of getting cooperation and collaboration.
• focus on making life more wonderful.
• speak up effectively when things aren’t working for you.
• respond compassionately to others and inspire compassion from others
• resolve conflicts peacefully.
I appreciate (invite and request) your assistance in letting people know of this event!

EVOLUTIONARY NLP: The Healing Power of The Natural World
 April 21-22 Austin, Texas

An Exploration of our Human Potential with International NLP Trainer Tom Best

The Evolutionary NLP program is an ongoing exploration of the essential qualities of “identity” and “Spirit”, as we discover how our participation with the energetic structure of the Spirit heals, restores and transforms the body-mind.
Tom and Bobbi Best have continued to refine and develop the structure of the Evolutionary NLP program for the past 12 years in workshops and retreats held in the US, several countries in Europe and eastern Europe, Peru and Hawaii. They have developed a deep appreciation that, although ‘personality’ may be a cultural artifact, Consciousness is not.

The primary emphasis of this weekend’s exploration of Evolutionary NLP will be working with the Healing Power of Nature…particularly, “the Work” with stones as taught by Americo Yabar and the Q’ero Indians of the high Andes.

Q’uyas [or Cuyas] … are Power stones for use in healing and therapy. Learning to transmit energy, power and healing through stones is an important part of a shaman’s training. There are many different q’uyas with as many different applications. The q’uya is a stone that has a certain feeling; that has been charged with vital energy.
Our lives are an expression of this ‘vital energy’ in it’s many forms. From our physical body to the highest aspirations of our Spirit, the way we use our vital energy determines the quality of our lives. Evolutionary NLP, and particularly the work with stones, will take us into a profound exploration of the reality in which we create, expand, and manifest the energy of our body, mind and spirit. We will discover how Nature itself opens a field of new possibilities, allowing a graceful progression into restoration, balance, and wholeness.

Your Guide: Tom Best, with his wife Bobbi, currently co-directs Best Resources / Texas Institute of NLP, an NLP training and consulting company based in San Antonio, Texas. An International NLP Trainer for the last 27 years, Tom’s background in cultural anthropology and Bobbi’s study of esoteric spiritual disciplines has led them to investigate many of the connections between NLP, esoteric spiritual practices and traditional or ‘native ‘ cultural practices. Their work with traditional indigenous cultures, including the Q’ero of the high Andes in Peru, is the continuation of a crucial exploration of the human spirit initiated by the elders of every tribe of humanity before the dawn of civilization. Tom and Bobbi share this “path of heart” which has led them to explore indigenous practices in the fields of health, spirituality, culture and personal identity.

Deeksha Oneness Blessing Circle 3/17/ 2012
Event Time: 2:15-3:15
Event Day of Week: Saturday
Event Location:
Yoga Shala 18585 Sigma Road, Suite 105
CEUs Offered:

Event Cost:
$20
Website for more Information:
www.snowflowerhealing.blogspot.com, www.yogashalasa.com
Event Description:
The Deeksha changes emotions and perceptions or helps one be free of perceptions. This shift changes one’s approach to challenges and opportunities since when perceptions change one does not perceive a problem as a problem. When perceptions change reality may also change because the external world is merely a reflection of the inner world. Higher perceptions and positive emotions create a more successful and fulfilling life.
Each Deeksha Blessing giver has been through a oneness course and attunement to be blessed with this ability. The giver is an empty vessel in which Divine energy flows through in order to raise the level of consciousness in individuals, in our communities and beyond.
Deeksha is given by the laying on of hands on the recipient’s head or sometimes through intent so that blessings may be given at a distance. The affects of Deeksha unfold differently in every individual as it depends on what the receiver may need most at the time.
Benefits of Deeksha are cumulative and include:

• Better health
• Better relationships
• Improved brain function
• Greater creativity
• Stress reduction
• Decrease of addictive habits
• Emotional stability
• End to suffering
• Self-acceptance
• More joy & happiness
• Inner peace
• A greater connection to Oneness
• Spiritual awakening & God realization

Clear Creek Refuge Bird & Butterfly Benefit this Sunday 2/26/12

A Fundraiser at Nelson City Dance Hall
featuring
Music, Storytellers, Great Food, Auction of Art, Antiques & Rustic Collectibles

You Are Invited to Attend a Benefit to Help Save a Historic Hill Country Family Farm
& Wildlife Sanctuary for Migratory Songbirds & Pollinators

WHAT: A special fundraiser where you will have the chance to relax among friends and enjoy music, an auction and savory food. A silent auction and music will go on throughout the day including Zydeco music by Breaux Gumbo. A live auction by “Sheriff John Ranger” of artwork and crafts of local artists, unique antiques and rustic collectibles is to raise funds to help support and preserve Clear Creek Refuge, a beautiful natural habitat and organic farm. Anyone is invited to use the open microphone to perform their original music, tell stories, or read poems between band performances.

WHERE: At the Nelson City Dance Hall, between Boerne & Comfort. Take the Welfare Road Exit, #533 off I-10, go west on access road one half mile. Address is 825 Highway 289, Boerne, Texas 78006 www.nelsoncitydancehall.net

WHEN: Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

WHY: This benefit is to raise funds to help preserve Clear Creek Farm, a 1904 pioneer homestead, heritage oak woodlands and native grass prairie. It is a traditional migration destination for nomadic species like the endangered Golden Cheeked Warbler and the Monarch Butterfly, who rest, nest and find the blooming food source and larval host plants they need for their survival. This critical native habitat offers these nomads a place to return to since the beginning of time, supporting the vibrant biodiversity of the Texas Hill Country. When these plants are gone, these species will disappear from the Earth. The most severe drought in Texas history has affected all ranchers across the region, raising the price of hay and feed making it increasingly harder to sustain a farm or refuge like this one. Clear Creek Refuge is a place where visitors can experience wildlife in an original natural environment, watch birds, study wild native plants and animals, walk trails and go back in time to an endangered way of life, the small family farm. It’s a place to remember our inborn need to be part of the cycles of nature.

WHO: The owner Eleanor Crow is a naturalist, farmer, filmmaker, and photographer. Her life goal is to preserve this historic family farm and native habitat in perpetuity to protect the rare plants, birds and animals that live there.

“Biomagnetic Therapy — Balancing pH, Eliminating Disease”

Biomagnetic Therapy allows the detection and correction of pH imbalances in the
body. These imbalances are mainly due to pathogenic presence. Balancing the
pH eliminates the pathogens therefore allowing the body to return to wellness.

Deeksha Oneness Blessing Circle Saturday 2/18/12

Event Time: 2.15-3.15
Event Location: Yoga Shala 18585 Sigma Road, Suite 105
Event Cost: $20
Website for more Information: www.yogashalasa.com, www.snowflowerhealing.blogspot.com
Event Description:
Deeksha, the Oneness Blessing is the transfer of Divine Grace, which can create a shift in consciousness, creating a sense of peace and oneness. Deeksha means “benediction” or “initiation”. Receiving Deeksha assists each individual in discovering their own path and eases suffering along that path.
Deeksha is not a religion or a religious based practice; it is a non-denominational experience that transfers physical energy, awakening our connection with the oneness in everything, allowing each of us to deepen our relationship with those we love, with ourselves, with strangers and with our creator.
Evolution in one’s consciousness manifests as changes in all spheres of our life – health, wealth, relationships & spiritual growth. The Deeksha brings about a growth in consciousness, thus heightening your life experience.

Insight Events USA and The Toltec Center for Creative Intent are honored to welcome
don Miguel Ruiz, the New York Times best-selling author of The Four Agreements,
to both San Antonio and Austin for a rare appearance!

The last time don Miguel was in Austin he left unexpectedly after receiving news
that a hospital in California had a heart waiting for him. Now, a little over a
year since his heart transplant, don Miguel will bring his immense love and presence
to the Hill Country.
In the tradition of the Toltec, a Nagual (shaman) guides an individual to personal
freedom. After exploring the human mind from a Toltec as well as scientific perspective,
don Miguel has combined old wisdom with modern insights and created a new message
for all mankind, based in truth and common sense. He has dedicated his life to sharing
this new message through practical concepts that promote transformation. His message
is simple and when implemented, even incrementally, changes lives.

The Four Agreements®, published in 1997; was a New York Times bestseller for more
than 7 years and the 36th bestselling book of the decade. Other books have followed;
The Mastery of Love, The Voice of Knowledge, Prayers, Beyond Fear and The Fifth
Agreement, a collaboration with his son Don Jose. All of his books are international
bestsellers.

We hope you will join us for what is sure to be a fantastic evening with one of
the greatest spiritual teachers of our time!

Sincerely,
